Our family celebrated my graduation, my dad’s retirement, and my soon to be start of my college career with a trip to one of my favorite places, Kauai, Hawaii. We spent days snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and relaxing on the beach, eating our weight in shave ice and incredible food, and enjoying the relaxed speed of island life. One of the highlights was an all-day scuba diving trip to the forbidden island of Niihau where we swam with seals, grey tipped reef sharks and thousands of brightly colored tropical fish making us feel like we were swimming in an aquarium. We also peered over a rock wall that dropped off dramatically into the abyss.
